Four gentlemen

This series of works focus on creating a system to dissect and understand these relationships by using the language of everyday objects as symbols that are known and familiar. In one such work I use the comb serves as a medium to express my thoughts for my mother. My mother has been paying for the whole family in silence all the time. In life, my mother has always kept her short hair. Mother said that if I made her a comb, she might have a reason to have long hair. Four different flowers in the works (plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum) in china to describe different qualities in four morality (integrity, fortitude, not fear of elegance). These four flowers together are called the four Gentlemen. Mother has the same quality in my heart and is beamed by these morality. I hope my mother can use the comb take away her troubles and muster the courage to keep her long hair.
